wintertime warmth

i've always been a baker, never a cook. but as i've gotten older, i've always wanted to learn...knowing that cooking at home is so much healthier (goodbye added butter, fat, sugar, and on and on...)....and much more economical. so i've started! despite my teeny tiny kitchen. 

Chris & I were out late last night in the city with friends, so decided to stay in tonight. a little "balance," if you will. i had some time today and decided to make a broccoli cheddar soup. it's my absolute favorite soup, however, it's always made with chicken broth. i searched the web for some easier vegetarian options and happened upon the Curvy Carrot blog....and let me tell you....this soup is amazing!! so easy, so tasty. very light, not too creamy. just perfect. And Chris loves it too! and it's what we're eating tonight, along with a generous helping of baguette....carbs...duh. 

so give it a whirl! you won't regret it. and if you know how to make a bread bowl successfully, chime in! I would love to know for next time!
